Wolke Hegenbarth has made a decision that will have an impact on her professional career. The actress no longer wants to be in front of the camera for the time being. STYLEBOOK reveals what prompted her to take this step.
Wolke Hegenbarth and her fiancé Oliver Vaid became parents for the first time in the fall of 2019. Their son Avi, now four years old, has become the center of the family—so much so that actress Wolke Hegenbarth has made a decision for the sake of her son.
Wolke Hegenbarth’s son takes top priority
Since launching her acting career in 1997, Wolke Hegenbarth has graced the screen in a multitude of German productions. She can currently be seen in the ARD film series Toni, männlich, Hebamme. When Wolke steps in front of the camera, long hours and overtime often come with the territory. However, she explains to Tag24: “Avi is my top priority. And a 60-hour week, which is normal for a series shoot, is simply not compatible with a small child.” That’s why Wolke Hegenbarth has decided to cut back for the sake of her son. At least for the time being!
Not goodbye forever
For the actress, this is not a goodbye forever. But currently, her son demands much of her attention and time. Wolke Hegenbarth explains: “At some point, he won’t want to do as much with mom as he does now. But I’m still the absolute number one.”
As soon as Avi goes to school, becomes more independent, and builds up his own circle of friends, Wolke would also like to work as an actress again. She adds: “I want to film again, absolutely. Even series. But not now.” This is because Wolke is away from home for several weeks at a time during filming.
Wolke Hegenbarth is part owner of a bag brand
Even though acting is on hold for now, Wolke has another project she will be working on in the coming months. In 2023, she launched her own bag collection together with the brand “mara mea”. The collaboration went so well that she joined the company as a partner. “I am now a part-time 50% partner and managing director at mara mea,” reports the 44-year-old. “mara mea” is a Berlin fashion label for women and, according to its website, specializes in “multifunctional companions for mums-to-be and mothers for before, during and after pregnancy and nappy-changing”. Wolke is dedicating this brief hiatus to her family and other ventures. But of course, she hasn’t given up acting. Something is already planned for next year, as she explains in a video with Gala. After the headlines of the last few weeks, a producer contacted her: “A producer got in touch with me and said, ‘I’m in Montana right now, but next year’s project, will you still shoot it with us?” And I said, “Yes, I’ll do it.”
Wolke explains that the problem nowadays is that people only read the headlines and draw conclusions from them: “The articles are perfectly fine, everything I do and what I’ve done is in there. But nowadays, who takes the time to read beyond the headlines?” asks the actress.
